We spent Thanksgiving here in Nashville with Keith's family as we do every year. I made the turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy and chocolate pudding pie, as I do every year. I really enjoy Thanksgiving and I really enjoy all of the cooking involved. I had a little help from the kids the night before Thanksgiving with that pie. I think they wish we could make chocolate pudding pie every night. :)
I went ahead and prepped the turkey the night before so all I had to do was wake up at 4:30, turn the oven on, and toss the bird in so I could get back in bed. This is exactly what I did! When I woke up, the house smelled awesome and it was just about time to pull that 23.6 pound bird out of the oven and let it rest for an hour or so. I did a little more cooking, we got everyone dressed, and we headed up to Nashville to spend Thanksgiving at Keith's Granny and Pop's house.

Not long after we ate, I took the kids home because Daniel really needed a nap and Etta was falling apart. I actually stayed longer with them at Granny's then I thought I'd be able to. Keith came home about two hours later.
I had told myself ALLLLLLLLLLL day that I WOULD NOT go out shopping on Thursday night. I was actually fairly exhausted and I didn't feel like fighting crowds. I also have a problem with retailers holding Black Friday sales on Thursday night and I didn't want to support that idea and shop that day. But then I started thinking about the deals to be had and I thought about all of the other people who would be shopping that night and I thought about the people working that night and how they might look forward to those extra holiday hours and who am I to deny them.
So, I ended up at Target...
I was able to take care of almost everyone on my shopping list in this one trip. Not too shabby!
We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!3>
Alice and her Great Great Aunt Peggy
This next series of three photos cracked me up. Daniel is sitting with his Great Uncle KJ and he's noshing on a veggie tray (which, on it's own, is like, WOAH!) and his cousin Jonathan (Keith's cousin, Jason's son) walks over to partake in the veggie tray. Daniel is pretty offended by this. The third picture shows our Daniel adjusting the tray so it is just a little closer to him and sort of guarding it from letting anyone else have some. Ha! That kid!
