I've been a busy momma lately, making plans and decorating for her party. (Have you ever had to wash the same load of laundry FOUR times because you keep forgetting to move it to the dryer before it gets that day-old funky smell? I have PILES of laundry to take care of this next week!). Anyway, for the last couple of weeks I have been doing party prep and by party time yesterday, I felt really happy with the way it had all come together!
Etta's cake was made by a local baker, Dorea Johnston (http://www.tissosweetcakes.blogspot.com/). The cake turned out so cute and tasted SO good and I love being able to support local small businesses!
While the cake was the centerpiece of the food table, the centerpiece of the party was the Rock Star Stage that I commissioned Keith to build and I painted. It was really simple and SO awesome! Etta got a karaoke machine from my parents for her birthday and it was a hit! We also had a ton of instruments for Etta's fellow band members.
As our concert-goers arrived, they were given a bag with their backstage pass, rock star glasses, a microphone, and a couple of instruments.
They were also directed to the table with a musical note sticker craft.
Everyone had a great time singing and dancing and eating pizza.
Then, we sang "Happy Birthday" to our Etta and ate that rockin' cake!
And these two! These two were my babies before I had babies. I can't believe Price is five now. I learned a lot about caring for an infant when Price was born. I knew a lot about 3-5 year-olds, but he was really my first experience with a baby and he was a sweet little guy! And my Kennedy! I can not believe how grown-up she is now! She's so well-rounded and so thoughtful! (Kathy and David, thanks for trusting me enough to practice on your kids and for being such great parenting examples. Love you guys!)
(sidebar: This is what Kennedy and Price looked like my last month with them. Kennedy 4 1/2, Price 11 months. In my head, they are still this little. lol.)
Etta opened a few gifts.
She went down for a nap around 2:30 and I had to wake her up at 6:15. She didn't go to sleep for the night until around 11:30! Yikes!!
It was a great party! The pizza was so good that Keith and I didn't get to eat any! So, we actually called up Samboli's and ordered more for dinner! Haha.
Rock On, Etta!
