17 Days Old and Pediatrician

Daniel went to the pediatrician when he was a week old. He weighed 8 pounds 4 ounces at that appointment, That was up from his 7 pounds 15 ounces birth weight. Ten days later, today, we had a follow-up appointment and this kid weighs 9 pounds 6 ounces!! That's almost a whole pound in ten days! (We even weighed him twice just to be sure). I swear, he eats ALLLLLL the time. Our pdiatrician was also really impressed with how strong our little (big) guy is! She flipped him over for "tummy time" and he was very alert and kept his head raised most of the time. What an over-achiever. ;)

Oh, also, he has a belly button now! His umbilical stump fell off a couple nights ago, and he woke up yesterday morning with a cute little innie.

Etta's slowly adjusting. She's more willing to come near Daniel and will pat on him some. She's been doing a few new "mommy" things like putting a burp cloth over her shoulder and putting her baby doll up on top of the cloth and "burping" the baby doll. Also, today, Daniel was in his bouncer and he was crying while I ran around trying to get everything ready so we could get out the door for the pedi appointment. After a few minutes of the screaming, Etta went to her room, grabbed her blanket, and brought it out and threw it over Daniel, who immediately stopped crying. It was a really sweet gesture by his big sister.

Etta has also been doing things that indicate that SHE'D like to be the baby and get the attention. This morning, while I was still in bed feeding Daniel, Etta climbed up and got in the co-sleeper. She found one of Daniel's binkies and stuck it in her mouth before grabbing his blanket and covering herself up.
Then, this evening, she climbed into her old bouncer. She's done this a couple of times already, but tonight it seemed to be attention-seeking behavior.

Here are a few pictures from the last few days:
We think he looks like my dad.
