Etta's 3rd Birthday Party

Yesterday, we celebrated Etta's birthday with family and friends. Counting the three of us, we had 50 people here! The kids mostly played in the living room with Etta's toys until the pizza arrived. The pizza actually got here  about 20 minutes late and the kids were starting to get fussy, but it finally arrived and we ate up!

After everyone seemed to be done eating pizza, we moved on to dessert. Birthday Cake!! Publix Bakery made really cute (and SUPER tasty) cakes. They matched her plates and napkins! I know a "smash cake" is generally reserved for first birthdays, but Etta got a special cake this year for a special reason. As you may recall, earlier this week Keith and I went to have baby #2's "big" 20 week ultrasound. We found out the baby's gender at that appointment, but the only person we told was Etta. She decided that she wanted to wait until her party to tell everyone else so that they could find out together in a fun way (a "cake reveal"). Well, as you can imagine, it was difficult for Keith and I to keep this secret for FOUR days, but Etta wanted us to do it this way so we obliged her. So, when it was time for cake we got her Lito and Lita to skype in and we had her Aunt D on the ipod (video) and her great Aunts Tammie and Jeanne on the phone. We all sang "Happy Birthday" to Etta and I helped her blow out her candles and she leaned forward and took a bite of her cake. lol.
Then, I encouraged her to use her fork to dig deeper into the cake so we could see if the icing was pink or blue.

Yup! Blue icing! It's a BOY! :) Etta's going to have a little BROTHER- Daniel Jackson Wenzler!

I like this picture because it shows my Dad & Chris (laptop) and sister, Deanne (iPod), who got to be a part of the event from afar. :)

Then, we cut up the main cake and pulled out the ice cream and did some more visiting...

People began to slowly trickle out and then Etta started to lose it so she went and took a nap.
It was a really nice day! Thank you to those who came to help celebrate her birthday and thank you to those who donated to Reece's Rainbow in her honor.

(and incase you're wondering, Etta's cute birthday shirt was made by my friend Lydia over at Layne James Embroidery... Go check her stuff out!)
