Daniel moved into a big boy bed!
Alice likes chili. :)
From our front porch:
We love our big, flat driveway! (Daniel got this balance bike for his birthday)
Taking a walk through the field behind our house:
(That's the back of our house at the top of this picture)
Lunch at Chili's
Nite nite, Alice!
When I'm not looking, Alice likes to bite the tips off of the markers and she sucks on them until most of the color is gone... Thankful for a "non-toxic" label!
Also, not sure if I have ever mentioned this, but Alice is a lefty and I think that makes her even more adorable. :)
Taking an evening walk in the neighborhood:
Open Play at GiGi's Playhouse
Alice REALLY likes to brush her teeth...
This little stinker hiding in the clothes racks at Target (I remember doing this when I was a kid).
Playing at Thompson's Station Park
They started building the house next door-
The girls and I went shopping one night
This next photo got a lot of attention on Facebook. Here is what I wrote that night:
There are a few things about this moment that made it remarkable to me. First, the fact that she is not contained in the shopping cart. She has always struggled with the urge to elope. Tonight, she wanted to walk and I let her and SHE STAYED WITH ME! I only had to threaten to put her back into the cart twice. The second thing is the obvious thing- she chose to sit and look at picture books. She initiated that. We were just walking by and she ran over and picked out a book and sat herself down to look at it. And she sat for a long time. I actually had to tell her when it was time to go (multiple times).
Etta's Kindergarten Thanksgiving Program:
She was a super cute Native American!
She's over there on the far left with one of her aides, Mrs. V. She didn't stay there long. She saw me on the way in and struggled in V's lap until they gave in and brought her to me. So, she sat in my lap at the back of the auditorium and we watched her friends perform the program.
Thanksgiving Prep:
Alice and Daniel were great chocolate-pie-making helpers and banana-pudding-making helpers. Etta preferred to sit at the kitchen table with her ipad.. she WAS quite happy to lick the bowl when we were done. :)
If you haven't already noticed, I am a big fan of side-by-side comparison photos of my girls. I think they look so much alike and because they were born around the same time of year and are both tiny, Alice has been able to wear a lot of Etta's old clothes. Well, this is a side-by-side of the girls "helping" me make a chocolate pudding pie. Etta (2009) was 17 months and Alice had just turned 19 months.
OF COURSE, I ended up needing to run to the grocery store on THE NIGHT BEFORE THANKSGIVING! ugh!!! Daniel came with me.
Daniel likes stickers. lol.
Thanksgiving Day:
I got up around 4:30 that morning to toss the turkey in the oven, and then I went back to bed. We had a very laid back morning around the house. Alice helped me sort through the Black Friday ads and she even picked out a few items. Looks like she's asking for a theater system here...
Keith's family had their Thanksgiving meal at 1:00, which is nap time for the kids. So, I sent Keith on with the turkey and pies and other food and I went up to Granny and Pop's house later in the afternoon after the kids got up from their naps. We got there a little after 4:00. Daniel had been talking about his "choc cake" (pie) since we made it the night before and we kept telling him that he could eat it when we got to Granny's house. So, AS SOON AS we walked in the door at Granny and Pop's house, we sat down at the table in the kitchen and everyone ate chocolate pie.
We did eventually sit down and eat real food.
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!
The kids kept themselves occupied by running around in circles
