Daniel's 2nd Birthday

**Well, I am now a little more than TWO months behind on this blog and, believe me, I have written all of the other blog posts in my head (vacation trip, family visits, pumpkin patch, Buddy Walk, etc) but finding the time to sit down and type it all out and add photos/videos has been impossible. Today was a special day and I am making sure that I stay up until I get this thing posted!**

Today was Daniel's second birthday! In fact, we are only 25 minutes away from the time he was born (11:58 pm), but I'm pretty sure I will not post this until after midnight.

So, Daniel's birthday. YAY!

Last night I decorated a little in the breakfast nook so he would have something special to wake up to. I didn't get to see his reaction, but Keith says that he Oooohed over his chair decorations. Keith took the day off today so we could spend the day as a family.

Daniel was a little on the cranky side this morning. I think it was because he has been a little sick lately and he didn't sleep well last night, but we tried very hard to make the best of it.

We took Daniel to our new Wal-Mart and let him pick out something special for his birthday (but we really just ended up with the toy Daddy wanted. Ha!) Daniel had fun on his shopping spree, dropping all kinds of things into the buggy, but it was pretty obvious that his favorite thing was a pink and green shopping cart. Daddy steered him back toward a Hot Wheels race track and that's what we ended up bringing home.

Yay! We picked out which toy Daniel wanted for his birthday!

Poor thing, STILL wanted that shopping cart! I would have bought it for him if we didn't already have one at home/

After we got home, we fed the kids and Daniel took a much needed nap.

After he got up from his nap, Daddy  started to put the Hot Wheels racetrack together...

But you see who actually put it together-

Daniel was/is very hesitant to play with the racetrack. This was not one bit surprising to me. The track makes noise and noise like that makes Daniel nervous. Etta loved it though!

Daddy gave Daniel a harmonica. He LOVES it!

After we played with the cars for a bit, Daniel and Etta helped me make cupcakes! Etta made a big mess when she decided that she should be in charge of adding the eggs (after I demonstrated with the first one). I didn't even realize she was doing it. I heard her say "tap tap"  and then there was egg everywhere! HA! Once again, Nervous Nelly, wasn't too happy about the mixer while it was running, but he was quite helpful with all of the other steps, including eating them!

We played a little more before dinner and I made them some fries as a birthday treat. After dinner, we lit two candles and sang "Happy Birthday" to our big boy!

**It's 11:58 RIGHT NOW**

Then, of course, my messy kids needed a bath! Then, off to bed!

While Daniel had some.. "moments" today, I think it was, overall, a special day and I'm glad we took the time to celebrate it!

Happy 2nd Birthday, Daniel! We love you!
