Keith took us camping on Saturday. We got up, packed up, and drove a couple of hours to Rock Island State Park. We got there around 11:00 Saturday morning and found a good campsite and Keith started the process of setting up our tent while I entertained Etta. We played in the back of the Pathfinder, walked around the campground, and went over to the playground to play. By the time we went back to the campsite, the tent was put together enough that I could zip Etta inside of it and I could help get things set up in there.
After everything was set up at the campsite, and after we were all feeling nice and sticky and sweaty (and Etta's hair turned all curly from the humidity), we piled into the car and went over to the swimming area for a little cool-off. I didn't get in the water, but Etta, and Keith, and Ferris did.
Then, we drove around to the waterfall overlooks. Etta fell asleep for about 20 minutes while we were between falls. Good thing, cause she needed another nap (she had taken a little nap on the drive out in the morning). The falls were really pretty. Especially Twin Falls.
After the waterfall car tour, we went back to the campsite and E had a pb&j, then we went for a little walk around the campground.
Etta kept running and of course tripped and skinned her knees. :(
We put Etta in her pack-n-play after she started signing "nite nite" to us. It took her a little while to fall asleep because it was a strange place and because she had a cough and a case of the sniffles and because a storm was rolling in and there was some thunder clapping around in the air, but she did, eventually, go to sleep. Then, Keith cooked some steaks and we FEASTED on ribeyes, green beans, and salad. I meant to take a picture of how beautiful that looked on our Army issue metal sectioned meal tray thingies, but I was STARVING and I gobbled up everything on that plate/tray before I remembered to take the picture. It was the tastiest meal I had eaten in a LONG time!
Then, we "went to sleep". I slept like crap! Etta stirred/coughed a lot, it stormed and the thunder/rain on the tent was loud, Keith snored, I couldn't get comfortable and my arm kept falling asleep, and in the early hours of the morning I really had to pee, but I didn't want to get out of the tent. Etta finally put me out of my misery when she woke up a little before 6:00.
We decided to just go ahead and pack up and head back home. We were out of there by 8:00 and home by 10:00. I know we were only gone for 24 hours, but it was so good to be back home! After baths, and lunch and a little play time, we all took a nap! I needed that! Except, now it's 11:51pm and I'm just now getting sleepy. So, "nite nite".
