Big Girl Bed

*sigh*

Well, I was hoping to keep Etta in her crib AS LONG AS POSSIBLE.  So, when she started climbing out of it, Keith and I started brainstorming.  He suggested we try putting her back into her sleepsack so she wouldn't be able to hike her leg up in order to climb out.  What a great idea!  and it worked!... for about a week and a half.  Until one morning, I heard a little *tink, tink* sound in my dreams and I began dreaming about Etta playing in her room after climbing out of her crib.  Eventually, my brain started telling me that *tink, tink* meant that she REALLY was out of her crib.  I went running in there and she was sitting on the floor (in her sleepsack) playing with the spoon and little glass bowl that I had left in there the morning before after giving Etta her medicine (She takes her Prevacid FIRST thing in the morning, I usually give it to her in a spoonful of applesauce as soon as I get her out of bed). She had sticky all in her hair from the applesauce and needed a bath.

Anyway, a few more days went by and she didn't do it again, but Daddy (and Momma) was nervous she might try it again.  So, last night we did it.  We turned her crib into a toddler bed.  She played in her dark room all by herself for about 45 minutes before climbing up into her bed and going to sleep.  She slept very well.  I peeked at her several times throughout the night (you can imagine I slept lightly) and, as far as I know, she didn't fall out all night.  Around 5:15am I heard her.  She was over by the door fussing.  I had to go in there twice to put her back in bed and she eventually went back to sleep.  The truth is, I'm not sure what time she actually woke up for the day.  She could have been playing quietly in her room for a while before I heard her.  All I know is, I didn't hear her until 7:45 this morning.  That kid is usually up by 6:30.  So, I was glad for the sleep-in.
