Mother's Day 2013

So, basically, I'm going to copy & paste my status update from Facebook...

Happy Mother's Day! My heart is so full! It's hard to believe now, but there was a time when all I wanted was to be a mother and years of infertility made me question if it would ever happen. I celebrate today, but will always remember how painful those years were. Thinking of my friends who are still "in the trenches" and those who have suffered loss.

Also, Happy Mother's Day to my mom (Valerie May Homa Barnes), my step-mom (Bruce Homa), my mother-in-law (Melanie Z Wenzler), my Nana, and my Granny-in-law (Mary Frances Zeller), my friends who are mommas, my Ds Mommas, and my Snarky Sisters. So thankful to have you all in my life!

Today was our first day alone as a Party of Five and it went surprisingly well! Mostly because Keith was awesome and basically took care of Daniel and Etta on his own while I took care of / held Alice all day. I got to "sleep in" this morning (after a 6:00 am bottle, Alice and I went back to sleep until about 9:40. MUCH needed!) and we've been taking it easy ever since! This afternoon, after spending a little time on the patio enjoying this beautiful day, I started sorting my maternity clothes into what I plan to sell at consignment and what I plan to give away while Alice watched from her bouncer (and E and D were outside with Daddy). It's a bittersweet task, but I look forward to getting my closet back in order!

Now, Keith is back in our bathroom bathing Etta and Daniel in our big garden tub while I sit in the living room dropping chocolate sprinkles on a sleeping Alice's head as I indulge in the small box of chocolates my Dad and Chris sent me for Mother's Day.

Hope all of the mother's in my life had a great day!
