So, there is this really awesome mama who blogs about the small things in life that we should all stop and enjoy. Her blog is amazing. Her photos are beautiful and the way she looks at life made me fall in love with her and her family. Her name is Kelle Hampton. She has two daughters, Lainey 3 and Nella who is about to turn one. When Nella was born a year ago, Down syndrome rocked her world. Kelle wrote the most amazing and raw post that instantly endeared her to the Ds community. I have no idea how many people have read that post, but 3048 people have commented to it. You can read it here.
Nella is about to turn one and in her honor, Kelle started a fundraiser for the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS). She set a goal of $15,000, and within hours had to revise to $30,000. She has raised the fundraising goal two more times, with the current goal sitting at $63,000 (3 x 21- get it? trisomy 21?). Many of us have watched as mostly small $5 and $10 donations have turned into over $55,000 in a week. The fundraiser will end next week on Nella's first birthday.
If you'd like to be a part of this you can donate by going to Nella's ONEder Fund page.
Also, Kelle put together a touching montage of videos and photos and there is a glimpse of Etta about halfway through:
