Nearly a week since my last post and STILL NO CAR! They say I will have it tomorrow. *sigh* Apparently my car "is like an onion" they found other damage while they were "peeling back the layers". Something about corrosion on the frame from an earlier repair or something... I am grateful that they are being very thorough and I understand that they are super busy, but they kept making new deadlines for themselves after missing deadlines and no one ever called me to tell me these things! They are HORRIBLE about returning phone calls, or letting a sista know that her deadline has been pushed back (again and again). I NEED MY CAR! *frustrated fists*
So, not too much to report from this week. Etta had therapy at High Hopes on Monday morning. So, we dropped Keith off at work and then picked him back up after therapy and he took us home on his lunch break. We stopped at Burger King on the way home and Etta had her very first fast food cheeseburger. She ate 3/4 of that thing (and a few fries). I couldn't believe her belly held that much food. I had the exact same cheeseburger (extra pickles) and I was stuffed!
She took a pretty good nap after that! :) When Keith got home from work that night, we had a quick dinner and I took the car to run a couple of errands.
Tuesday, Etta's EI teacher, Mrs. Amy, came to the house at 8:30am (as she does every Tuesday morning) and then I can't remember what else we did, but I was EXHAUSTED by the end of that day! Oh, I watered the flowers and worked on Etta's thank you notes while she napped and in the afternoon we met with our pet sitters when they came over for a consultation. and I placed a couple of calls to the body shop to find out the situation with the Pathfinder. AND I roasted a small chicken that evening. I still feel like I'm leaving something out, though...
**edit** I DO REMEMBER why I felt so exhausted that day! I spent the ENTIRE day trying to figure out why the wireless on my laptop wasn't working. Keith said that Etta had played with it that morning, which explained a lot, but I COULD NOT get the wireless to turn back on. I clicked lots of clickables and I scoured the keyboard for a button she may have pushed. but NOTHING! I called Keith a few times, but he was too busy with work to help me over the phone. It was his number one priority when he got home that night, which surprised me because his usual #1 is DINNER. Anyway, as I finished making our supper, he found the simple Fn + F2 button that Etta hit and it magically turned the wireless back on. I swear I was about five minutes away from throwing the netbook through a window and buying a new one.
Wednesday Etta had OT in the morning AND PT in the afternoon. She doesn't usually have an afternoon therapy (pt is only once a month), but it worked out this day because Etta and I dropped Keith off at work and got to keep the car all day and then picked him back up around 4:30 after pt. I got a bunch of errands taken care of yesterday! Mostly it was making returns and buying dog food, but many things were crossed off of my "to do" list.
Today I paid bills and shook my fists in the air when the guy at the body shop wouldn't return my calls, and after the receptionist told me that the new deadline had been moved to Friday. Etta and I played in her playroom a lot. I bathed the dogs during her nap. Just before I hopped in the shower, the doorbell rang and Ferris went nuts! This woke Etta up after only about 40 minutes of sleep (she usually naps for about 2 hrs). So, I was a little pissed when I went to answer the door. Then, I opened the door and there stood two very sweet tweens holding a glass measuring cup. The girls were about 12 or 13. They told me that they were new neighbors and that they wanted to make brownies but they didn't have any vegetable oil and did I have some. YES! of course I do! I don't know why exactly, but I thought this was the neatest thing. A neighbor asking for a baking ingredient. I remember asking a neighbor for some sugar when I was about 11 or 12, but I can't remember what I wanted to make. So, anyway, I forgave them for waking my tot- who never went back to sleep.
We hope everyone has a wonderful and safe holiday weekend! Happy Fourth of July!
and just for fun, some eye candy:
